The Best Advice I've Gotten From My Mentors

1. Your "good-enough" should be better than the next guys "best effort."

2. Do something for your career every single day. This

3. "There's Enough Work To Go Around." This came from my mentor Kelly Gorsuch during my internship at The Urban Style Lab in D.C. when I was training to become a hairdresser. And it’s true. Don’t compete with anyone except yourself. Winners focus on winning, losers focus on winners.🤷‍♀️ Even though I believe his exact words were "There's enough hair to go around." lol ☺️

4. "Who better than you?" Someone very close to me told me this recently and resonated. Who better than you to create that image in your head, start that business, write that story, start your blog, create that makeup look? No one is going to be as perfect a vessel to manifest your idea as you are. So don't wait for anyones permission. Figure it out. By showing people your passion you may inspire them. When people are inspired, they want to help! It's amazing what people will give you when you learn to ask for it. This is what they mean by "the Universe will conspire to help you." It's not new-age crap, it's human nature. That's not to say you won't encounter haters. You might...but that brings me to my last piece of advice:

5. Haters gonna hate. We've all heard it, but do you realize that every single person (even the most rich and famous (actually, especially the rich and famous!)) have haters. No matter how good you are, or what you do, someone somewhere will poo-poo it. So in the words of Salt-n-Pepa "Shake your thang. Do whatcha wanna do." No truer words ever spoken.
